Pangasinan Food Crawl was a two-day gastronomic adventure; a feast of Pangasinan’s best cuisines. We visited 16 restaurants in Dagupan, Lingayen and Alaminos to discover different delicacies, heirloom recipes, and authentic Pangasinan dishes. It was not a typical food trip. Imagine visiting 16 restaurants! #Foodcoma is real! But we all definitely enjoyed it! Pangasinan Food Crawl was indeed a flavorful two-day feast!
Lucky Ba Ngoai Vietnamese Restaurant
Our 1st stop for Pangasinan Food Crawl. I was surprised to know that there is a Vietnamese restaurant in Dagupan. LUCKY Ba Ngoais didn’t disappoint me during my first Vietnamese dining experience. I personally recommend their Pho and Cha Gio which satisfied my taste buds. Both dishes are oozing with flavors. They have a hint of Filipino taste. But how can I forget the Vietnamese young coconut which is one of the best desserts I ever tasted? Don’t leave Lucky Ba Ngoais without tasting this one. PROMISE!

New Leaf Japanese Restaurant
I am not a fan of Japanese food, but this restaurant makes me want more. That says a lot. Their food is really good! Their California Maki and Yakitori is their winning dish. You will also feel that you are in Japan when you are dining at New Leaf. The cherry blossoms, ugawaki slippers and wagasa umbrella displays establish a Japanese ambiance.

Caffe La tea
Caffe la tea is not a typical coffee shop, as it offers unique dishes in addition to their drinks. In fact, you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Caffe La Tea and feast on their rice topping selection. Their pork binagoongan is highly recommended. Aside from their chicken pesto and clubhouse sandwich, they also have fusion dishes like deviled tofu and chiz buko—a fried rolled coconut with cheese as filling.

Matutina–Gerry’s Seafood Restaurant
Matutina–Gerry’s Seafood Restaurant is one of the popular restaurants in Pangasinan because of its fresh, unique, and delicious seafood dishes. Even though they are one of the best, they still continue to improve their food. My favorites are their crabs and the buttered talaba (oyster). I’m telling you, these two are must-tries.

Ciudad Elmina is a floating restaurant which cultures fish especially Bonuan bangus. Customers will experience catching fish themselves, then the restaurant will cook for them. This is Ciudad Elmina’s unique way of attracting customers—by engaging them thru fishing. Crispy hito and bangus are my favorites. The Accidental Chicken was created unintentionally when a customer was ordering a dish that wasn’t in the menu (cool right?). Oyster sisig is a must-try!

Cake, bread, dessert? Name it, they have it! Their cakes and desserts are so colorful that you won’t forgive yourself for not taking photos to be posted on Instagram. Talk about #feedgoals. Actually, the minimalist and rustic interior of the restaurant itself is Instagram-worthy. But aside from their pastries, they also offer pinakbet, kare kare, chicken inasal and more. They also have merienda buffet.

When you are looking for freshly-baked breads, visit Panaderia Antonio! They are one of the most, if not the most, trusted in the bakeshop industry of Pangasinan. The owners also own the very first bakeshop in Dagupan—Sanitary Bakery and the creator of the popular brand, Plato Wraps. Panaderia Antonio is also known for their hand-crafted, freshly-baked breads used in their tasteful pizzas and burgers. But, aside from bread, burger and pizza, they also offer rice meals, pansit, pasta and the best kare-kare in Pangasinan! Promise, it is the best! Try it yourself. J

Healthy Gains is located beside Panaderia Antonio. Owned by the same family, it was established because of the owner’s commitment to living a healthy lifestyle. So, she studied and created an option and a healthy counterpart of her favorite foods. She then launched her healthy menu that includes salad, sandwich, pizza, pasta, dumpling and more. Health buffs will surely enjoy dining here without worrying about calories.

Masarap Grill’s name speaks for itself—masarap! Located inside Magic Mall on Guilig St., it serves all-time favorite dishes like palabok, crispy lechon kawali, bangus, kare-kare, pancit, chicken, and pork barbecue. Masarap Grill also caters to all kinds of events.

Mint Kitchen Bar Karaoke
Mint is one of my favorite places in Dagupan. The food, the place, and the cocktails are all good! If you are going for a night out with barkada, this place is the best to be. You will enjoy their food and drinks amid a great industrial ambience while the acoustic band serenades you in the background. But, if you want to have a little bit of privacy, you can enjoy their modern style karaoke rooms. Their boomerang and nachos suit best while singing your favorite heartbreak song.

Beach Café is a new café-restaurant located along the Capitol Baywalk in Lingayen. You will not only enjoy the food; you will also feast on the view of Lingayen Gulf which is a few steps away from the restaurant. Beach Café has pioneered grill-your-own unlimited barbeque. For P199, you will enjoy different types of barbeque. If you want to have unlimited seafood, just add P100 and you can have meat and seafood barbeque. Great deal, right?

Coming from the term where the name of the town Lingayen originated, Lingawen offers Lingayen’s local dishes that use bagoong as one of the ingredients. Bagoong is the primary product of the town. Of course, pinakbet was one of the dishes served. But Lingawen put a twist by presenting it in a unique way—they added an ingredient which is fried lumpia wrapper. Other must-try dishes of Lingawen are bulalo, kare kare, buttered chicken wings and sisig which is best partnered with Lingawen bagoong rice.

Elianas is one of the few restaurants in Pangasinan that offer authentic local food. They use native and natural ingredients in their dishes, making them healthier and more flavorful. They have native chicken tinola, adobong itik and seafood in bilao which are all appetizing. They also have halo halo that I believe is one of the best, if not the best, halo halo in Pangasinan.

Island Tropic Hotel and Restaurant
Island Tropic Hotel and Restaurant is located at Lucap Wharf in Alaminos City, facing the majestic Hundred Islands. As expected, the restaurant offers the freshest seafood coming from the sea and fish ponds in the city. They serve their overflowing dishes in a kawali. They have seafood chopsuey, seafood in black sauce and my favorite, seafood kare kare.

Islandia Hotel and Restaurant
If you are looking for authentic western Pangasinan food, this is the place where you should dine at. They have Binungey of Bolinao, Alaminos Longganisa and Pangasinan Bangus. But these local foods are being cooked in a different way. Islandia Hotel and Restaurant deconstructed these dishes and created fusion cuisines to make their dishes unique. The Alaminos Longanisa Lasagna for me is a must-try! The flavor of the garlicky-Alaminos longanisa is still intact yet not overpowering the other essential flavors of the lasagna.

Jam Food House
Ended the Pangasinan Food Crawl in Jam food house which is not your typical food court stall. They offer a unique style of cooking, one of which is the Ginataaang Alaminos Longanissa with kangkong leaves and Boneless Bangus in Mango Sauce.
Address: City Food Court, Alaminos City, Pangasinan
Pangasinan Food Crawl is indeed the most flavorful summer event in Pangasinan and I am looking forward to the next one.
