After the success of Pangasinan Food Crawl, Norte Bloggers immediately organized a version of it in Cagayan that aims not only to discover foods and restaurant in Cagayan but to help in promoting the local food industry in the province.
10 bloggers from different parts of Luzon joined the Cagayan Food Crawl with 18 restaurants and more than a hundred of dishes served. It was a 2 day and 1-night feast of delicious cuisines and authentic Cagayan dishes.
Pan De Cagayan
If you are looking for fresh and locally made bread, Pan De Cagayan is the place to be! They have pizza, baguette, sandwiches and different kinds of bread. Their pandesal is a must try but my favorite is the pizza especially the 5 cheese pizza that really taste great. For the pasta, their Bolognese is the winner. Actually, all the food I tasted at Pan De Cagayan is delicious. The butter beer, hot chocolate, quesadilla, ensaymada, all has a unique appetizing taste. One more thing admirable at Pan De Cagayan is the place, its quiet and peaceful ambiance makes you want to stay longer and try all their food. Very homey.
Manio’s Pampaguena Restaurant
Manio’s Pampaguena Restaurant is a taste of Kapampangan and Filipino fusion recipes in the heart of Tuguegarao. Since 1958, the restaurant is one of the go-to places of cagayanos to satisfy their cravings of authentic kapampangan cuisines. All time Filipino foods like kare kare, palabok, pinakbet, and sisig are served with a twist of Cagayan taste, of course, they also have a version of authentic Cagayan noodle, Pansit Batil Patung which is cooked differently but still oozing with flavours. Manio’s Pampaguena Restaurant also caters for special occasions.
Cris Native Lechon
The best lechon I ever tasted comes from Cris Native Lechon! They only use native pigs for their lechons, which I guess is one of the reasons why their lechon is very flavorful. The thin skin was so crunchy and delicious. I promise myself to only taste the lechon but I failed and ended eating a few slices, LOL . Surprisingly, the meat is also falvorful that you don’t need to put sarsa or gravy to enhance its flavors. Cris Native lechon also offers lutong bahay meals.
Xanjeros Big Burger
Named after the owners sons Xander and Jerome, Xanjeros Pinoy Big Burger offers the biggest burger in the entire province. Even a person with a big appetite, I guess, couldn’t finish their burger. But aside from their Pinoy Big Burger they also have other burger choices with unique names like their Tsunami Burger, Jaw Breaker Burger, Tornado Burger and a lot more. For non-burger people, you may try their tacos, burritos, chicken wings and their unique version of Pansit Batil Patung.
Charlie’s Kitchen Savory speaks for its tagline – Fresh, Fast and Tasty. They have the freshest and tastiest foods, so expect a delectable dishes that are served without waiting for a long time. Aside from the all-time Filipino favorites (Kare Kare, pinakbet and crispy pata) they also serve sweets and desserts like dulce de leche topped with ice cream and nachos which is for me the is the best.
Hap Chan is the only restaurant in the country that offers authentic Hongkong cuisine in Chinese ambiance. They have 80 branches across the county including one in Tuguegarao. They offer variety of oriental food from rice toppings, noodles, chinese classic and dimsum. Their sweet and sour pork, chop suey guisado and sautéed beef with broccoli flower for me are a must try. Hap Chan will surely satisfy everyone’s cravings for dimsum as they have sharks fin, shrimp siomai, spareribs with tausi and a lot more.
Barako Boy Coffee
Barako Boy Coffee is a haven for coffee lovers. They almost have everything, from local to imported blended coffees. They have Ybanag Roast which is strong and robust, Barako Blend, Sagada Roast, Italian Roast and the aromatic and flavorful Civet Coffee. Their coffees are also brewed traditionally and all freshly ground. They also serve pasta, rice meals, noodles and homemade churros. If you want to try brewing your own coffee, they sell coffee beans on their store.
Leonardo’s Steaks and Sizzlers
Leonardo’s is a newly opened restaurant in Tuguegarao that offers steaks and sizzlers at a very affordable price. Yes! Their steaks are crazy affordable. Cooked in a bricked oven, their steaks are undeniably delicious, juicy and flavorful. Their Sizzling Bulalo and tenderloin paired with a red wine are my favorite. They also have pansit batil patung and premium beers.
Already serving for decades, no one could challenge the success of RGT Bulalohan. For a very affordable price, you will experience that Bulalo cagayanos going crazy of. According to locals, there are times that you need to wait for a long queue just to eat bulalo.
We all experience food coma for the first day, not complaining though because we really enjoyed all the foods the restaurants prepared for us.
This is just the first day of our Cagayan Food Crawl Experience. Will share more on must try restaurants in Cagayan on the 2nd part of my Cagayan Food Crawl blog.
